The Job
In the middle of a pandemic, in the UK’s capital city things still have to move. Vital services such as the NHS and the transport network, and food delivery must continue regardless.
Just Eat & The BBC approached us to follow delivery drivers as they make regular deliveries to NHS workers. The use of film was to capture genuine and natural moments of thanks and praise for London’s delivery drivers for a segment to be featured on BBC’s Big Night In.
The CLient
Just Eat is a British online food order and delivery service. It acts as an intermediary between independent take-out food outlets and customers. It is headquartered in London, England and operates in 13 countries in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.
Knock and jump back 2meters, but stop for a chat!
The Challenge
It was clear from the get go that the main challenge with this job would be to observe all social distancing rules and keep hygiene to the highest possible standard at all times. This meant the film crew wore face masks and filmed from at least 2 meters distance at all times.
The RESULT
To understand the positive spirit and intrepid attitude of London’s delivery drivers, the client sent us to two locations in the east end of London to film the ordering process, food preparation, the pick up and the delivery.

The restaurants were kitted out to observe social distancing guidelines. Delivery drivers had to knock and then run back two meters. Despite these changes, between the restaurant owners, the delivery drivers and NHS workers who’d ordered food, there was a palpable sense of people coming together to overcome the challenges of keeping our vital services going during a global pandemic.
